Autumn in New England...

Off we go, to the Green Mountain State! We stayed at the Clifford Country B&B and arrived a little past 2 a.m. (it's a hike from Virginia to Vermont, but we do it). When we arrived there were trillions of stars in the clear sky, it was breathtaking. Woke up and spent time with our sweet host, Emily! She cooked up a delicious breakfast consisting of eggs, fresh fruit, & homemade bread and muffins, yum! Spent a bunch of time getting to know the sweetest donkey I've ever met, Linus and his horse pal, Taz. We soaked in all of the gorgeous views around Emily's property and the fresh autumn Vermont air. Later in the afternoon we decided to hike up Haystack Mountain again, and made some cool stops along the way. The hike up Haystack was gorgeous! We must have spent over an hour at the top, relaxing and enjoying the views. After we stopped in Putney and had pizza at the Putney House of Pizza, yum!

The next morning we woke up to fresh sourdough waffles that Emily prepared, this lady sure knows how to host! We also got to spend time getting to know Trista & her husband, Zol who were also staying at Emily's B&B. We decided to head over to Mt. Holly's famous Cider Days Festival and had a blast! Checked out all of the local Mt. Holly artists and makers venues and had some seriously delicious apple cider & apple crisp. Then we found ourselves at the one and only Winslow farms to pick up some pumpkins and then over to Lefferts Pond. We ran into a really nice guy who was from MA. and was telling us how he had spent the day up in the mountains looking for a tree that him and his family had carved their names into years ago when he was a  young kiddo. After we headed to grab dinner at a local spot near Mt. Holly-  I had the most delicious maple balsamic salad with grilled chicken. Spent the rest of the evening back at the house chatting with Emily, Trista & Zol, which was sweet.

Woke up the next morning to find that one of my favorite artists would be having a seconds sale on her work in Putney, so we scooted out quickly in the morning. But, first, we headed over to Plew Farm, one of my favorites to pick up eggs, jam, etc. After we headed to the Putney School and I snatched two gorgeous vases, ate a caramel apple and soaked in some last minute Vermont air. Then, off we went, back to Virginia. Always get that sad feeling when we leave Vermont, but, until next time!
